An Orthodontist is a dentist who has received an additional three years of masters training in the field of Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopaedics. An Orthodontist is able to straighten teeth, correct misaligned jaw structure and give you a perfect smile.
Unfortunately, there aren’t many alternatives to braces, but there are alternatives to the metal braces that many people immediately visualize. You can get clear or tooth-colored brackets and wires, which make braces much less noticeable. Some patients are also eligible for clear aligners instead of traditional braces.
Some adults choose to get veneers instead of braces to serve as a purely cosmetic fix. However, these are quite expensive, may need to be replaced at some point in life and do not actually correct any bite issues.
The cost of doing nothing is much higher than the cost of getting the entire treatment done.
There are many types of braces and treatment options that we offer at Kids and Braces Super Speciality Dental Clinic. You are free to choose from our wide variety of offerings depending on your budget and individual preference. We strive to make braces treatment as affordable as possible. Please schedule a consultation so we can determine what treatment course works best for you.
Yes, You can save up to few months of treatment time by opting for specialised braces that we offer at Kids and Braces Super speciality Dental Clinic. Proper diagnosis and meticulous treatment planning at our clinic helps to finish treatment early.
From an orthodontist point of view there are three objectives of braces treatment:
- Aesthetic
- Upper and lower jaw co-ordination i.e. Bite correction
- Stability of treatment after braces are removed
You will undoubtedly be happy with the improved appearance of the teeth in the first six to nine months. At that point however, your mind set should shift to the other two objectives. A good orthodontist will keep his eye on all three objectives for you during the course of treatment. Considering that it takes only 24 months for the complete course of treatment the end result is absolutely remarkable.
Braces along with the wires apply light continuous pressure on the teeth to move them into desired and preferred position.
Treatment time depends on each patient’s specific Orthodontic problem. In general, treatment time ranges from 12 to 30 months. The “average” treatment time with braces is approximately 22 months. Treatment time depends on many factors such as: age of the patient, complexity of the case, patient compliance are amongst a few. Maintaining good oral hygiene and keeping regular appointments are important factors in keeping treatment time on schedule.
The decision to remove teeth is very case specific and is best determined by the Orthodontist. As a rule only if your teeth are very much protruded or crooked we suggest removing the teeth. We love your teeth as much as you do and that’s why our priority is always avoiding extractions as much as possible.
Your eyesight has absolutely no connection with your teeth. Orthodontic extraction in our clinic is done extremely carefully to cause minimum damage to surrounding tissues like bone and gums.
The braces that we use at Kids and Braces Superspeciality Dental Clinic is of highest quality and they have a very low profile with smooth edges.
Braces do not often hurt though you may feel a small amount of discomfort for a couple days as your teeth, gums, cheeks, and mouth get used to your new braces. In these situations, pain medications will be prescribed to you to ease the discomfort. We also provide you with relief wax to take care of this problem.
No. With Indirect method of bonding that we follow at Kids and Braces Superspeciality Dental Clinic, it is as painless and fast as you have ever imagined.
Yes. Once treatment begins, we will give each patient an individualized list of instructions and provide a comprehensive list of foods to avoid. Some of those foods include: ice, hard candy, raw vegetables and all sticky foods (i.e. caramel and taffy). You can avoid most emergency appointments to repair broken or damaged braces by carefully following our instructions.
You will be able to do all your routine tasks as before. Braces will not stop you from participating in any of your school activities We recommend you wearing Mouth guards while playing contact sports like Boxing, Karate, etc.
We will prescribe you with special brushes at Kids and Braces Superspeciality Dental clinic. With these brushes it is possible to clean each and every part of the teeth. This will make sure that the colour of your teeth will not change even during the course of treatment.
In the consultation session, we will show you how to keep your teeth clean which will utilize as little time as possible.
Special ‘invisible’ braces are available at Kids and Braces Superspeciality Dental clinic These braces have been specially designed so that no person can see the braces that you are wearing. Unlike normal braces, these braces are put on the backside of the teeth to make them absolutely invisible.
More than 30% of our patients are adults. We believe that even adults deserve a healthy and a perfect smile. A patient is never too old to wear braces until your bones and gums are healthy. With newer options like Ceramic braces, Lingual (behind the teeth) braces and clear aligners it becomes much easier for adults to accept braces.
Braces are not only required for aesthetic (looks) purpose but are also important to
- Promote ideal function i.e. proper chewing of food
- Prevent premature wearing and chipping of teeth
- Decrease the occurrence/incidence of decay
- Correct speech difficulties
- Decrease the chance of injury to teeth
- Prevent Jaw Joint problems
So even if you are happy with your crooked or protruding teeth you should consider Orthodontic treatment for a lifelong healthy smile.
Ceramic braces do NOT stain even after months of treatment. It is the elastic that stains. But don’t worry we have got this sorted out. At Kids and Braces Dental clinic we use special rubbers that don’t stain even after months. We change the rubbers every month so that your ceramic braces don’t look yellow.
At Kids and braces Supers speciality Dental Clinic we do not recommend or encourage our patients to get the Removable braces as it is an outdated technique. We utilize the highest quality materials and give each patient the best possible treatment. Removable braces cannot give the same quality of result as they cannot control the tooth movement as precisely as fixed braces.
That depends on case to case basis. Orthodontics isn’t just about making your teeth straight or making them look better. An Orthodontist will take lot of things into consideration when recommending treatment, such as: how the top and bottom teeth meet with each other, and how to obtain a healthy bite.
This is why you sometimes need a full set of braces, even if you think that you only need them on top or bottom. Of course, some people are lucky. Their bites are good and perhaps they only need a bit of straightening. People in this position often can get braces only on top or bottom.
Once the treatment is over patients are either given a removable device or a fixed wire that is stuck on the inner surface of their teeth to retain the teeth in a proper place. The period can vary from 2 years to life long retention.
Yes absolutely. Infect, you will feel more comfortable eating variety of foods after your braces are removed as your upper and lower teeth will meet properly.
No. Braces will align your teeth into their proper position. In this position, teeth are easier to clean and have less chances of getting damaged. Instead braces will prolong the life of your teeth.
